Mother's Day observed in Manipur with prayers

Like in other parts of the world, Manipur too observed Mother's Day on Sunday.
Every Second Sunday of May has been observed as Mother's day around the world and the day has been dedicated to honouring Mothers for their role in shaping the future and the society.
Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) Centre Church, Chingmeirong also observed and celebrated the day by honouring and praising the mothers and acknowledging the outstanding contributions they made for the their children.
This year round, Ajin Gonmei (65), wife of Meisongam Gonmei of Dewlahland, Imphal has been conferred with the title "Mother of the Year-2015" for her contributions and role in the Church and society.
The award was presented to Gonmei by Pastor L Simon Raomei in recognition of Ajin's exemplary efforts on upbringing her children and working for the Church despite several constraints.
Gonmei was crowned the title by former Mother of year-2014 Phoebe Shimray and she was handed a citation and a gift box.
Mass prayer, rendition of hymns by children, artistes and presentation of gifts to the mothers were the other highlights of the celebration.
Mother's Day was celebrated in all the Churches in Manipur by honour mothers and giving gifts by their children.
During the celebration, Rev Dr Daniel Kashung spoke on the topic "Mother: The Christian home maker." The programme began with an invocation prayer led by Seityabati Kuman while Elangbam Surjit Kaur Gill shared a short testimony.
Kinai Jemima presented a special number "I Love You Mother" while Christina Harimayum read the scripture.
UKHRUL: Various Churches and Christian Fellowships in Ukhrul Town Sunday joined the global chorus of praise to acknowledge a mother's unconditional love and compassion for her off-spring on the joyous occasion of Mothers' Day.
Along with discoursing upon different topics centred on mother, Hunphun Baptist Church (HBC) came up with its own festivities to pay tributes to all mothers.
Significantly, during the morning worship service HBC showerred more than 230 mothers with umbrellas as gifts, while local pastor Revd Ayonsui Singnaisui invoked blessing for health and longevity of mothers.
Assistant pastor Prem Raleng explained on the topic " A faithful mother organizes her family," while Timwon L Shimray dwelt on how a good mother mentors her children.
Besides, choosing of Luckiest Mother and Mother of the Year titles added flavour to the celebration.
At the same time, the Union Baptist Church (UBC) organized special morning and evening worship services for mothers wherein the immesurable grace and love of the mother was acknowledged through melodies by Baby Lanlan and Athem.
Revd Dr YL Mingthing, Director, TTA and local Pastor Revd Remember Rimai exponded on how God created women in his own image and the vital roles mothers play in the family and society.
Meanwhile, Ringui Longnao Fellowship Ukhrul held a noon worship service to celebrate the occasion at Phungreitang.
Zingtun Tangkhul Naga Longphang (ZTNL) president MK Horlung spoke about the worth and dignity of a mother who fears the Lord and serves her husband and children with a faithful heart.
The fellowship also distributed gifts to over 50 mothers as a token of gratitude during the service.
