Under the Heart to Heart Project of Rotary Club of Imphal and Rotary Club of Polo City, Imphal, 62 children hailing from different parts of the State were examined by medical experts on the parameters provided by the doctors of Fortis Heart Institute, New Delhi at Rotary Bhavan, Mantripukhri today.
The children were examined to provide heart surgery in New Delhi free of cost under the project, said a statement.
The reports along with the latest Echocardiography reports of the children would be sent to Escorts Heart Institute for their assessment and thereafter the surgery would begin from July 2015 as per the schedules provided by Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi.
In New Delhi, all the logistics would be coordinated by the Rotarians of various Rotary Clubs of Delhi, the statement said and added that Kalakar Trust would provide transportation and Manav Ashray would provide accommodation free of cost.
Rotary Blood Bank, New Delhi would take care of additional requirements of 3-4 units of blood per child.
The Heart to Heart Project of Rotary Club of Imphal and Rotary Club of Polo City, Imphal have provided free heart operation to 145 children of the State so far, added the statement.
Of these 145 children, the children were from Tamenglong, five from Churachandpur, seven from Ukhrul, nine from Senapati, 19 from Bishnupur, 26 from Thoubal, 27 from Imphal East and 49 from Imphal West.
The heart surgeries of children are now conducted under the Gift of Life Programme, a project managed by Rotary Club of Delhi East End.
Saying that there is no funding from any organisation or Government for the project, the statament said that the funds are collected from the participating Rotary clubs all over the country.
Members of Rotary Club of Imphal and Rotary Club of Polo City, Imphal have also been generously contributing to the Gift of Life Project, the statement added.
