1 killed, 3 hurt in accident

Imphal, December 09 2014:
In a fatal road accident, at least three persons were killed when a Hyundai i10 car and auto rickshaw met a head-on collision near Standarth Robarth School along National Highway 102 under Singjamei Police Station today around 6.30 pm.
Another three persons also sustained grievous injuries in the mishap.
The deceased have been identified as Leisangthem Ibomcha (37) s/o (L) L Tompok of Lilong Chajing Mamang Leikai; Oinam Lalit (60) s/o (L) Noinoi of Elangbam Leikai and Memi Begum (50) of Lilong Leihaokhong.
O Lalit was driving the car while L Ibomcha and Memi Begum were travelling in the auto rickshaw when the accident took place.
Police sources said the car coming from Thoubal and heading towards Imphal hit two persons who were standing nearby the road side at Lilong.
Fearing of dire consequences, the car did not stop and went on moving but unfortunately, it collided with an auto rickshaw near Standarth Robert School killing three of them.
They were rushed to RIMS Hospital but died on its way.
The three injured persons have been identified as Ramjan Begum (40) of Lilong Leihaokhong; Md Abdul Hakim (34) of Lilong Leihaokhong and Nameirakpam Mani (50) of Kyamgei Maning Leikai.
They were admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Singjamei police have registered a case in connection with the incident.
