Road mishap claims 3, five hurt

Imphal, December 09 2014:
At least three persons died and another five were seriously injured when a car, which sped away after hitting two pedestrians, at Lilong Bazar, violently crashed into an autorickshaw at Can-chipurataround 7.15 pm today.
According to information culled from the spot, Oinam Lalit (60) s/o (L) Nonoi of Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai, who came in an i1O car (MN01S- 3067) towards Imphal, first hit two pedestrians at Lilong Bazar.
Although, people shouted at him to stop the car, he sped away towards Imphal and collided head on violently with an autorickshaw (MN01S-7452) at Canchipur near Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School.
Even as the driver and two persons who came in the autorickshaw died, another three occupants were also injured in the deadly mishap.
The two deceased persons who came in the auto-rickshaw have been identified as Leishangthem Ibomcha (40) s/o (L) Tomba of Lilong Chajing Mamang Leikai and Memem (50) w/o Turap Ali of Lilong Leihaokhong.
While the identities of the two persons who were hit by the car at Lilong Bazar could not be established till the time of filing this report, the three injured persons who came in the autorickshaw have been identified as Ramjan (40) s/o Satawa of Lilong Leihaokhong, Md Abdul Hakim (34) s/o Md Manan of Lilong Leihaokhong and Nameirakpam Mani (50) s/o Madhumangol of Kiyamgei Mamang Leikai.
