She said that seven women were killed while seven others were raped in January last alone in the State besides seven women being assaulted.
Two women also committed suicide within the month.
Among ten women reported disappeared, two were found dead.
A nine-month old infant was molested, she said adding the total cases of crime against women and children in January alone this year stood at 33 .
S Sahida, Farida, Chaobi Bibi, five-year old Zin Zin Moe, Sultana Begum, hearing and speech impaired Laishram Surmila and Keisham (O) Thoibi were killed.
Zin Zin Moe was killed after being raped.
Sarika further demanded punishment against the perpetrators of the crime while adding that police have failed so far to arrest Siraj Khan, accused in the killing of Farida.
Saying that the case of Farida's killing was settled between the families with the initiative of a Pradhan, Sarika demanded the arrest of those responsible for settling the killing of a woman in an unauthorised forum.
Questioning why the police have not been able to arrest the culprits involved in the killing of Sultana Begum and Laishram Surmila, Aruna, another participant of the demonstration charged the Govt of shielding criminals.
Although the Govt is reported to have imparted special training to police personnel for election duty and providing security cover to VIPs/VVIPs coming from outside the State for election campaign, no training is imparted to the police to prevent crimes against women and to trace missing women.
Besides, no infrastructure has been provided nor budgetary allocation made for the same, Aruna rued.
The protesters further demanded special training to police to tackle crime against women and provide adequate manpower.
Thoibi, another protester, urged the authority concerned to establish the cause of death of women with the help of forensic science experts in controversial cases so that justice is delivered.
She also pointed out that the death of one Sanatombi, who was found dead in the wee hours of Feb 1, was not a case of suicide.
She was killed after being tortured.
Placards reading, "We demand special security arrangement for protection of women and children,' 'probe the death of Farida, deliver justice,' 'investigate and arrest the culprits of the lengthy list of rape, killing/murders, rape & murder, missing, assaults cases,' etc were displayed by the protesters today.
