Imphal, February 05 2014:
Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) tody alleged that troops of 16 Assam Rifles supported NSCN-IM cadres in the shoot-out yesterday at Oinamlong in Tamenglong district.
According to ZUF, Assam Rifles provided shelter to 20 NSCN-IM cadres in the attack on February 4 at Oinamlong village in Tamenglong district.
The ZUF further alleged that 16 Assam Rifles also 'sided' with the NSCN-IM cadres in the shoot-out of Gadai Hill, Tamenglong in October last year.
"Though there was no casualty in the encounter yesterday, Assam Riffles personnel of Kamai post acted with bias while monitoring the law and order situation.
It was not the only occasion for the Assam Riffles siding with NSCN-IM.
The 10 Assam Riffles at Noney (Longmai) post have been acting in the same manner," the ZUF pointed out.
It then said the Assam Riffles while giving free hand to NSCN-IM and the long rope restriction to other parties is not a good strategy to peace but counter-productive.
ZUF also warned that it will not hesitate to lay hands on the Assam Riffles if they continue to be partial in their action.
