Lamka, February 03 2010:
Following an assurance from the Deputy Commissioner Jacintha Lazarus that all SDOs in the district would stay put at their respective place of posting for at least 15 days in a month, Churachandpur District Students' Union, the student body that forcibly closed three temporary sub-divisional offices within the township, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with the district administration.
'The district administration with her initiative and concern for the district reached an agreement,' a union representative said with an assertion that it would strictly observe and remain vigil as to whether the SDOs concerned honour terms of the agreement.
Three temporary offices belonging to Tipaimukh, Henglep and Thanlon were forcibly shut down, and their files seized by student activists late last year.
The CDSU move to restore administration in subdivisional hqtrs came close on the heels of the district administration giving substantial interest in the interiors.
On two occasions, the District Level Co-ordination Committee (DLCC) meeting had been convened at the interiors, one in Singngat sub-divisional hqtrs and the other at Thanlon.
Moreover, the latest DLCC review meeting is also scheduled to be held at Thanlon on February 19 .
