Imphal, February 03 2010:
Reacting to contention of the SSP (IW) yesterday that Cpl Khunaijam Ingocha alias Kokobi s/o (L) K Tomba of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai was arrested as a KCP (MC) member, the outfit's military Affairs secretary Lanheinba Meitei has dismissed the police officer's claim as false and pre-meditated.
Denying Kokobi's connection with the KCP (MC) in any manner, Lanheiba suggested that the police investigate more intensely to record antecedent of the captive rather than issue statements in haste that seems to be intent on confusing the general public.
Not ruling out possibility of the said individual being a gang member and operating with the patronage of certain elements within the security establishment, Lanheiba further iterated that there is no Kokobi in the KCP (MC) organisation or its armed wing the KFL.
Neither was the KCP (MC) involved in the incident of setting ablaze plantation site at Mapao Thangal nor do the group resort to abduction to ransom, the secretary maintained.
Further clarifying that KCP never believes in taking advantage of women in-distress in party activities, he affirmed that the organisation is committed to the common goal for establishing an egalitarian society and emancipation of the people.
Lanheiba also rejected the SSP's claim that Boy and Lt Mani are KCP (MC) members, and asked the police top brass to be more efficient in discharging their entrusted tasks instead of making concocted claims as the public are mature enough to differentiate between activities of gang-members from that of revolutionary groups.
