Kohima, February 03 2010:
There has been a gradual shift of the attention of the Nagas with regards to the Naga political movement.
Until a couple of years ago, the term 'peace-talks' used to be a house-hold topic among the Nagas but that has become a thing of the past.
Topic such as 'peace-talks' has been now replaced by 'reconciliation'.
What the political commentators may read is a different thing altogether but the Naga leaders both civil and underground feel the need of reconciliation among the various Naga 'groups' and hence a platform to serve as a catalyst to achieve this end has been given birth in Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR).
"Reconciliation was a dream but now it has become a reality", was what All Naga Students' Association,Manipur (ANSAM) chief David Choro echoed in a public meeting recently.
Factional clashes among the Naga underground organisations used to be a routinely affairs until a couple of years ago.
Sometimes the gunbattles were so fierce that it escalated into big scale that the common people used to be gripped with fear psychosis.
The dialogue offer from the government of India had been turned down by the NSCN-IM saying that the invitation was wrongly channelised while the NSCN-K continue to maintain its stand that there is no point holding talk with New Delhi at this 'juncture'.
Whatever may be the case, the focus at the moment by the Naga leaders who matter is to make peace first in the home front.
Meanwhile, the magic of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) is working superbly and that the booming gun battles have been halted for good these days in the Naga inhabited areas.
However, the question at the moment is--What next after the peace is completely prevailed in the Naga home front ? .
