Scribe award for TSE reporter, Sapam Aruna

Staff Reporter of The Sangai Express Sapam Aruna Devi has been conferred with the Best Female Journalist of the Year award on the occasion of Kangleipakki Meira evening daily's 30th foundation anniversary.
The award presentation ceremony was held today at Manipur Press Club with Commissioner (Art and Culture) Dr RK Nimai Singh as the chief guest.
Dr Nimai also awarded Poknapham daily's Loukrakpam Dhanabanta with the best male journalist award while Naoroibam Phillip of the ISTV was conferred with the best electronic media award.
The awards carry Rs 2000, a shawl and citation each.
Presenting that key-note address, Kangleipakki Meira editor Wangkhemcha Shyamjai said the journalist award floated in 2000 is to encourage newspersons working in the field.

Noting that State journalists have been at the receiving end from various section of the society, he suggested that inspite of threat and intimidation scribes should always strive to contribute their mite in bringing positive change to the society.
In his address as the chief guest, Dr RK Nimai said journalism plays an important role in a democratic form of Government.
He also noted that arrival of electronic journalism and development of modern gadgets have eased difficulties previously associated with journalism.
Human rights activist advocate Khaidem Mani, Additional Chief Engineer (CADA) K Manoranjan, Joint Director (DIPR) A Balkrishna Sharma and Director (Agriculture) L Pallendro also attended the event.
