Final Electoral Rolls released, female outnumber male voters

The final Electoral Rolls of the 60 Assembly Constituencies in the state has been released today setting the stage ready for altogether 17,70,80 electors to decide the fate of the candidates in the upcoming Assembly elections.
The Electoral Rolls released today highlighted that female electors has exceeded male voters of the state.
Addressing media persons at the conference hall of Old Secretariat today, state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) PC Lawmkunga said that the number of female voters of the state is 8,89,497 and that of the males is 8,51,333.The coverage of photo Electoral Rolls is 97% and that of electoral photo identity card is 95% .
He further stated that according to the reports furnished by DCs and SPs, four Assembly Constituencies have been reported as expenditure sensitive polling stations.
These Constituencies are 52-Tamei, 53-Tamenglong, 54-Nungba and 42-Tengnoupal.It has been estimated that there will be around 2357 polling stations.
These polling stations, categorized as normal, sensitive and hyper sensitive will be sent to the election Commission.
According to reports, the number of hyper sensitive and sensitive polling stations is much higher than normal polling stations, he added.
He further stated that as a security arrangement for the coming Assembly elections, 350 companies of security forces will be arriving shortly in the state.
Among these companies, 218 will of Central Para Military Forces and the remaining will be security forces from different states of the country.
A special plan for the deployment of security forces from outside the state has been arranged by the DGP of Manipur, he said.
An Election Control room in connection with the coming Assembly election will be opened tomorrow at Imphal Hotel.
The contact number of the control room will be toll free, he informed, while assuring that public awareness programmes will also be taken up prior to the commencement of the State Assembly election.
Speaking on the occasion, N Pravin, Joint CEO, conveyed that those whose names have not included in the final Electoral Rolls released today can include their names in the Electoral Rolls by applying through office of EROs before the filling of nomination papers.
