The five parties in the alliance are Manipur People's Party (MPP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Janata Dal-United (JD-U), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).
BJP pulled out of the alliance in the last hour even though its National spokesperson Prakash Javadekar had recently announced the decision of the party to be a part of the pre-poll alliance of the opposition parties.
The formation of PDF was reportedly finalized in a formal meeting held at the residence of NCP Manipur Unit President Radhabinod Koijam yesterday.
The meeting was attended Presidents of the five parties and their members.
The meeting also reportedly appointed MPP President Dr Nimaichand Luwang as the convener of the Front and JD (U) General Secretary Soibam Indrakumar, RJD President in Charge K Kumarjit and NCP Vice President L Ibomcha as co-conveners.
The meeting resolved to announce its common minimum programme very soon.

MPP will field its candidates in Lamlai, Konthoujam, Bishnupur, Thanga, Wangkhem, Heirok, Sugnu, Patsoi, Langthabal, Nambol, Kumbi, Khangabok, Hiyanglam, Thongju and Singjamei Assembly Constituencies.
NCP will field candidates in Thangmeiband, Wangoi, Kshetrigao, Uripok, Wangkhei, Moirang, Churachandpur, Saikot and Mao Assembly Constituencies.
JD (U) will field candidates in Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Saitu, Tengnoupal and Henglep Assembly Constituencies while CPI-M in Sagolband Assembly Constituency, Dr Luwang said.
Meanwhile, addressing a press meet at the party office here today, MPP President Dr Nimaichand Luwang observed that PDF has been formed to defeat the Congress-led SPF government in the ensuing general election and bring a change in the society.
CPI, which is a partner in the SPF government, too has decided to part ways with the Congress in the upcoming election.
This will help the Front in defeating Congress party, Dr Luwang expressed optimism.
He disclosed that although BJP is not part of the alliance and the Front is planning to field candidates in all the 60 constituencies of the state, it may leave out some Constituencies, which are strongholds of BJP.
Dr Luwang further disclosed that the Front is discussing with other political parties in the state to join the alliance to defeat Congress and install a non-Congress government in the state after the election.
JD (U) Secretary S Indrakumar, RJD President in-charge K Kumarjit and NCP Vice President L Ibomcha were also present during the press meet.
