Constitutional Day observed

Manipur State Council, Humanist Party of India observed the adoption of the Manipur State Constitution Act 1947 on January 1, 1947 as State Constitutional Day on January 1 at Sangaiprou.
A release issued by the general secretary of the party informed that the observation was started with floral tributes to the Constitution.
Speaking at the occasion, Y Biren Singh, general secretary highlighted that the Manipur State Constitutional Act 1947 is a de jure Constitution enacted by His Highness the Maharaja Bodhachandra Singh.
The first election of the State Assembly was conducted in June 1948 and the first Constitutional Assembly was inaugurated by the Maharaja on October 18, 1948 followed by the formation of Constitutional Government on November 27, 1948, he added.
It further mentioned that the observation declared to boycott the ensuing 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election of January 28 .
