Alliance christened People's Democratic Front

Pre-poll alliance of the five political parties namely MPP, NCP, JD (U), RJD and CPI (M) has been christened People's Democratic Front (PDF) .
A joint meeting of the coalition partners held at the Thangmeiband residence of NCP State president Radhabinod Koijam on January 1 is said to have approved christening of the alliance as PDF along with the appointment of MPP president Dr Nimaichand Luwang as the convenor.
JD (U) general secretary Soibam Indrakumar, RJD president in-charge K Kumarjit and NCP vice president L Ibomcha have been named as the co-convenors.
Talking to newspersons at the MPP office today, Dr Nimaichand Luwang said taking into account the people's aspiration to see a new government after the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly election nonCongress political organisations decided to form the coalition.
Conveying that agenda of the PDF is primarily on unseating the Congress from power, he said PDF candidates would be fielded in all the 60 Assembly Constituencies.
He further confided that hectic parleys are on to bring more non-Congress political organisations under the PDF fold.
Even though the BJP is not a coalition partner, the national political organisation is said to have arrived at an understanding with the MPP for seat adjustment at certain Assembly segments where PDF partners would not be contesting, Dr Luwang maintained.
He also announced the first phase list of PDF candidates for the upcoming polls with the assertion that MPP nominees would be fielded in Lamlai, Konthoujam, Bishnupur, Thanga, Wangkhem, Heirok, Sugnu, Patsoi, Langthabal, Nambol, Kumbi, Khangabok, Hiyanglam, Thongju and Singjamei Assembly Constituencies.
Further informing that NCP candidates would be put up at Thangmeiband, Wangoi, Kshetrigao, Uripok, Wangkhei, Churachandpur, Saikot and Mao ACs, Dr Luwang also informed that CPI (M) candidate would be contesting at Sagolband AC.
While Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Saitu, Tengnoupal and Henglep AC would be allotted to JD (U), list of RJD candidates would be consequently released in the coming days, he added.
