Hueiyen Lanpao condoles W Tomcha

The staff and management of Hueiyen Lanpao Group of Publications condoled the sad demise of Wahengbam Tomcha Singh of Sagolband Moirang Mayum Leirak, who passed away on December 29, 2011 .
Late Tomcha was the father of Wahengbam Tiken, the editor of Hueiyen Lanpao daily (English edition).
During a condolence meeting held at its office, the staff and management of Hueiyen Lanpao Group of Publications also shared in the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family members.
Born on 24th January 1921 as the 3rd son of Wahengbam Yumjao Singh (Gaveshana Shiromani), late Wahengbam Tomcha was multifaceted personality who worked tirelessly in various fields.
He was a pioneer in introducing the Manipuri dances to the outside world through "Nrityashram organisation which not only showcased and popularised the various dances of Manipur but also produced new innovative composers.
He is one of the persons who worked tirelessly behind the scene for the establishment of the Jawahar Nehru Dance Academy.
As a writer, late Tomcha wrote many books, notable among them being Anaoba Khunggang, Thajaba and Kunjamala.
As a political worker, he was associated with the Congress (Organisation), serving as its state unit General Secretary and later its President.
In 1977, when the Congress (O) merged into the Janata Party, he eventually went on to become its state unit President.
