Chandel, May 28 2014:
Chandel District Vigilance Committee on May 26 clarified that the allegation labelled against ADC Chairman Pu Lhukhosei Zou by BJP Chandel and DVC over alleged fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 58, 14,000 from SBI Chandel during an inspection tour on May 12, was nothing but a mistake of the committee, which it realized later in a meeting with the ADC chairman at his official quarters at Lamphelpat.
On the other hand, the BJP Chandel has strongly reacted against the DVC statement and said it will not retreat and surrender from its stand but dealt with the matter seriously so as to book the culprit for stringent action.
The DVC statement of ending the allegation without pursuing the cases further was conveyed by President of DVC Chandel, BD Betha Anal while talking to media.
Betha said,' The DVC members along with BJP Chandel Vice President, Ts Konal, on the invitation of the chairman met the Chairman at his official quarters at Lamphelpat" .
The DVC President further stated that the decision to withdraw the allegation was arrived at after a long discussion and briefing of the Chairman.
However, expressing disappointment of the party over the outcome of the meeting, Vice-president of BJP Chandel, Ts Konal in a statement to the media said that BJP Chandel will continue to take the cases further.
It may be mentioned that the District Vigilance Committee Chandel and BJP Chandel, in a joint statement on May 24, had alleged the ADC Chairman of withdrawing of Rs 58, 14,000 from SBI Chandel during his inspection on May 12 without issuing any work order to any work agency and by diverting the work out of the permitted works under 13 Finance commission Award and 13th Approved Action Plan of ADC, Chandel.
