Firing in Lemba village decried

Intending candidate for Keirao assembly constituency Md Nasiruddin and Lemba Khul Development Council have strongly condemned the indiscriminate firing by some unidentified individuals during a meeting held in the village on Sunday afternoon.
Addressing a press meet at his residence on Monday, Md Nasiruddin said that he was attending a meeting with the local residents of Lemba Khul on Sunday around 1.30 pm in relation with the upcoming Christmas festival, when some unidentified persons, who came in a Chevrolet Beat car bearing' registration number MN05J 5904 and an Eeco Van, fired some rounds, which terrified the local people.
Earlier, he had also faced threats from unknown persons on multiple occasions including a bomb threat at his house.
A case has been registered at Andro police station in this regard, he said.
He further said that violence and threatening the public will not bring anything good in the society.
He also said that he will continue to serve the public irrespective of the threats he received from any groups or individuals.
On the other hand, Lemba Khul Development Council chairman Benjamin Chithung said that such indiscriminate firing in the small village has terrified the residents.
Elections are fought on humanity ground and visions.
It would be wrong to hope of winning election by indulging in violence.
He also said that the council might ban entry of all candidates in the village if such incidents continue to occur.
