Heart check-up important after 20 yrs of age: Dr Kala

With the objective of informing the people about heart attack and its preventive measures, a Heart Attack Prevention Cell was inaugurated at Langol View Hospital and Research Institute on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, heart surgeon Dr Ksh Kala expressed concern over the rising number of heart attack cases in the country and said that most of the cases are being reported amongst young people, especially who are above 20 years of age compared to the past demographic of 40-50 years group.
As such, he urged all those above 20 years of age to go for heart checks to determine the existence of any health ailments and take up preventive measures, if needed.
He then said that the newly inaugurated Heart Attack Prevention Cell will be of great benefit to the people and urged the people to report to the hospital if they experience any symptom of chest pain, shortness of breath and dizziness.
He also urged for reg ularly checking the BP, the sugar and cholesterol levels in the blood, conducting ECG test and cardiac enzymes, adding that this will help in preventing most heart diseases.
