Local bodies decry alleged involvement politics of in drug related crimes

Extending their support for Chief Minister N Biren Singh's War on Drugs mission, many local bodies have called against the involvement of politics in drug-related incidents.
In a statement, Eastern Star Club spoke out against the alleged involvement of Keisham Meghachandra Singh, president, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee in a case of drug seizure by Kakching Police wherein the politician reportedly conducted a press meet at Kakching PS HQ and allegedly spoke harshly to the SP .
The statement demanded that the MPCC president should be properly questioned and investigated.
Separately, Sekmaijin Social Club has stated that the MPCC president's alleged act could have potentially resulted in tampering of evidence and called for his arrest in a press release.
Motbung Meitei Youth Club also released a statement denouncing involvement of politics in drug crimes and extended their support to the War on Drugs mission.
Meanwhile, in a release, Youth Development Association stated that the public should support the initiative to destroy poppy plantations with the use of herbicides.
The statement also demanded the State Government to dole out appropriate punishment to drug peddlers/smugglers regardless of the social standing and connections the perpetrators might have.
