Multi Drug Resistant treatment facility inaugurated

A newly constructed building for Multi Drug Resistant (MDR) treatment in the premises of Churachandpur District TB Centre has been inaugurated by chief medical officer, Churachandpur Dr T Vanlalkungi on
Monday.
The programme was attended by Churachandpur district hospital medical superintendent Dr Tinglonlei, District AIDS Control officer Dr Romeo Sanate and district leprosy officer Dr Kimnei-hlam as special invitees.
During the event, five TB patients were also provided diet supplements.
Speaking on the occasion Dr T Vanlalkungi informed that one room was kept open in the district hospital for MDR-TB patients and with the inauguration of the few facility MDR - TB patients would now be treated separately.
The CMO urged the TB officer to work in tandem with the medical superintendent.
She further informed that majority of TB patients need to be admitted in the district hospital while the MDR-TB patients need to be treated in separate compartment, adding that the inauguration of the new building would be of immense benefit for such patients keeping in mind the strong possibility of the transmission (TB disease) .
The newly constructed MDR-TB building has two rooms, two toilets.
The facility was constructed in July, 2022 and was completed in November in the year, according to sources.
