7th CAU Inter-Collegiate Youth Festival cum Games and Sports Meet 2023 kicks off

The 7th Central Agricultural University Inter-Collegiate Youth Festival cum Games and Sports Meet 2023 kicked off today at the College of Agriculture, CAU, Iroisemba.
The meet commenced by hoisting the flag and ceremonial lights by Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-chancellor CAU Imphal.
Students of 13 constituent colleges of Central Agricultural University (CAU) will compete in a number of games, literary and cultural events during the 3-day Inter-Collegiate Youth Festival cum Games and Sports Meet 2023 .
The events include badminton, table tennis, race, football, extempore, debate, quiz, dance, song, rangoli-making etc.
Director of Instruction, CAU Imphal, Dr S Basanta Singh while speaking in connection with the meet, he said that it has been organised to provide a platform to the students of the constituent colleges of CAU to showcase their talents after a hiatus of two years due to COVID-19 pandemic.
He maintained that CAU Imphal is like a mini India where a number of students from different States across the country are studying and the events of the youth festival will promote cultural exchange thereby inculcating the feeling of integrity and unity among these students.
Further these events will nurture competitive spirit and teamwork among the students, he added.
Dr S Basanta Singh also informed that the selected students from this youth festival will represent the varsity in the Inter University Youth Festival to be held at the University of Agriculture Sciences, Bangalore and the All India Inter University Games and Sports Meet to be held at Haryana Agricultural University.
Speaking at the occasion, Director of Extension Education, CAU Imphal, Professor Ph Ranjit Sharma highlighted that the sports activities will instil sporting spirit and discipline thereby striving for physical and mental well-being of the students.
The social, cultural and literary events will raise awareness about the local, regional and national characters, he added.
College of Agriculture, CAU Imphal Dean Professor Indira Sarangthem; Registrar Professor K Mamocha Singh; Comptroller Anantha shayanam and OSD (Finance) Dr H Chaqba Singh also attended the inaugural function.
The cultural procession carried out by the students showcasing the rich cultural heritage of India was the main attraction of today's programme.
