Imphal, May 28 2014:
The country's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was fondly remembered on his 50th death anniversary by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Tuesday.
The nation pays homage to Pandit Nehru on his death anniversary on May 27 every year.
As part of the nationwide commemoration, MPCC organized a function at the Congress Bhavan here to mark the occasion.
MPCC vice-president and Social Welfare minister AK Mirabai, Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, other Congress Ministers, MLAs, members of Mahila Congress, Youth, Seva and party workers paid floral tribute at the statue of Nehru.
Speaking on the occasion, AK Mirabai said the people should not forget what Nehru did for India to make it on par with the rest of the world.
Commenting on the new NDA Government at the Centre, Mirabai called upon her partymen to stop feeling edgy about the new change brought about by the mandate of the people.
Mirabai, however, pledged she would never leave Congress party and called the rout of the Indian National Congress in the recent Lok Sabha polls a big lesson for the party which must be accepted wholeheartedly.
