Imphal, March 27 2015 :
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) Imphal City Unit Council is organising a debating competition on April 9 for students who are in Class IX- XII under the theme 'A government strict law is the key to a clean environment' .
The competition is being held as a part of DESAM's cleanliness drive carrying out within the Imphal city area with an objective of making it a clean city.
The drive also covers all school premises in the city.
DESAM urged all students and school authorities to maintain a clean environment in and around their campuses.
DESAM has appealed to the authorities concerned to remove all fruit stalls near the Bhairodan Maxwell Hindi Primary School as it disturbs the academic atmosphere but there is not any response so far in this regard, a release said.
It urged the authorities to take out these stalls within three days and asked the Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) to explain why permissions were given to these stalls.
