Imphal, April 09 2009:
Asserting that the PDA candidate in the outer constituency for the coming Lok Sabha election has been sponsored by the NSCN (IM), the Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) has expressed its desire that no social organisation launch a campaign for a particular candidate in favour of the NSCN (IM) .
In a press release, MNRF information and publicity Secretary, C Rocky said that any organisation going against the MNRF, the Chairman/president and all executive members of the organisation will be dealt severely.
It said that in a democratic country, every citizen has the right to vote candidate of his/her choice.
It also said that there is no bigger crime than violating the rights of an individual and it is equivalent to killing a person.
Referring to the earlier statement of NSCN (IM) that once said 'we have nothing to do with Indian politics/elections,' the MNRF statement said that Muivah himself may contest if the NSCN (IM) feels the need to have an MP/MLA.
The statement also urged for guaranteeing the individual freedom while calling to strive to live peacefully and to maintain good releations between the overground and underground.
