Tension ran high at Shija Hospital and Research Institute today following the death of a patient with agitated patient party family members storming the hospital charging the attending doctors and nurses with negligence.
According to information received by the press, 41 year old Angom Jamini Devi w/o Christopher of Phayeng Mayai Leikai was admitted to the hospital on April 3 in connection with stone case in her kidney and the stone had been removed successfully after operation on the day.
However, on April 5, after the patient started suffering from fever, vomiting and loose motion, she was taken to the ICU where she passed away today.
Charging the attending doctors and the nurses with negligence, infuriated patient party stormed the main building of the hospital and destroyed the window panes.
The situation was brought under control with the arrival of the police.
The hospital authorities, while describing the death of Jamini Devi as unfortunate, the hospital authorities have clarified that there is no question of negligence on the part of the doctors and nurses who have conduct many similar operations successfully in the past.
The death of Jamini was due to infection after the operation.
