Imphal, April 09 2009:
The Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA), taking serious note of the repeated failures to complete the water supply scheme taken up at Senapati under NLCPR even after numerous appeals and several rounds of agitation, has demanded an explanation on the inordinate delay from the State Govt and the authorities concerned.
A press release issued by the student body questioned as to why the project was inaugurated incomplete in haste on November 15 last year at Taphou Naga village with PHE Minister TN Haokip as chief guest if the project was not in a position to serve its purpose.
Reminding of the note of assurance and agreement issued by the three local MLAs reportedly with the consent of the Chief Minister and the concerned Minister to complete the project within Dec last year following which the SDSA and the NPO suspended their agitation in Oct last year, the SDSA decried that the assurance has turned out be mere empty words.
Demanding an explanation within 15 days on the inordinate delay , the SDSA cautioned that it may be constrained to launch any form of democratic agitation in case the authority concerned fails to come up with an explanation within the deadline set.
