Imphal, April 09 2009:
Two youths who were apprehended by the Imphal west police with press cards and collecting money have been produced before the court today and remanded to police custody for five days.
The two youths identified as Yumnam Padmachandra (36) son of Debenkumar of Sagolband Bijoy Govinda Akham Leikai and Chingkham Sharat (30) son of Pishak of Tera Keithel Loukrakpam Leikai.
They were apprehended by the police on frisking and checking at Thangal Bazar area from near the Jalal store at MG Avenue, Thangal Bazar yesterday at around 4 pm with cash amount of Rs 8,200 .
Police alleged the youths of collecting money from the shops and other business establishments using the name of the Nupilal Memorial Association.
Police also recovered one receipt book of the Nupilal Memorial Association, I-card signed by the editor of the Nupilal weekly paper issued to one Sharat, mobile handsets and slip pad.
The two youth were produced in the court today with a prayer for seven remand but court sent them for five days custody.
