A meeting organised by the Hunphung Katamnao Long (HKL) at the conference hall of Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) at Ukhrul district Hqs today deliberated on dynamic issues preceeding the 15th Lok Sabha elections.
The meeting was also attended by functionaries of different civil organisations.
Addressing the meeting, TNL president Stephen Angkang said that they were not following any party or individual.
He said that they were working on the basis of a directive issued by the United Naga Council (UNC).
The UNC directive said that "It is the wish of the people that one of our men must represent the tribal interest in the Lok Sabha from Manipur".
In the subsequent presidential meet held at Komlathabi, it was decided to back again the incumbent MP Charenamei as the choice of Naga people for fulfilling the wish of the people whom Naga people elected as consensus representative in 2004.Taking part in the meeting, convenor of the Delhi Team Yaronsho Ngalung said that they came to Manipur even as they were staying outside thinking that if they could be of little use to the people.
Claiming that Ukhrul is the centre of Christianity, he advised the people against supporting any one who goes against Christianity.
Tangkhul Shanao Long president Dina observed people need to stand together and support the persons who could work whole-heartedly for the people.
