Imphal, April 09 2009:
Recalling that NSCN (IM)'s response to elections held under the constitution of India was "no solution, no election", the Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) has ridiculed the NSCN (IM)'s efforts to put up/sponsor candidates of their choice in the elections by allegedly completely reversing its earlier policy.
In a press release issued by its information and publicity secretary C Rocky, the MNRF asserted that NSCN (IM)'s reversal of policy only showed that it had fallen into the trap laid by the Government of India.
Observing that lakhs of innocent people including thousands of social leaders and scholars lost their lives in the course of the 'Nagaland independent movement', the MNRF accused the IM of sowing seeds of animosity among Nagas as well as between hill people and valley people.
The NSCN (IM)'s agenda behind putting up its own MP and MLAs is guided by the their intention to forfeit public money, it alleged.
As such, some individuals have been working together with the NSCN (IM) just to get some share of the money earned in dubious manner.
Alleging that PDA candidate Mani Charenamei is being sponsored by NSCN (IM), it cautioned that no social organisation should campaign for a particular candidate under favour of NSCN (IM).
If any organisation is found campaigning for the particular candidate, president/chairman as well as executive members of the organisation will be awarded befitting punishment, it said.
Observing that forfeiture of one's right to vote is a severe crime comparable to killing people, the MNRF asserted that it would have been acceptable to all had the NSCN (IM) asked the elected MP to support the Naga peace process in areas where he/she can.
Saying that they do not want to kill people, MNRF asserted that it would be wrong to presume that only the NSCN (IM) have weapons and that only they can shoot and kill people.
