Jiribam, August 19 2021:
Four students' organisations based in Jiribam namely AMSU, MSF, DESAM and KSA have urged the government of Manipur to give first priority to local candidates in the recruitment of graduate teachers for which the state education department (S) had already issued notification.
Addressing media persons Thursday at AMSU Jiribam unit office, DESAM District Council Jiribam president Laishram Bilakshya Meetei said the recruitment notification for graduate teachers issued by education department (S) on December 11, 2020 mentioned about 53 vacant posts in respect of Jiribam and the vacant posts were 35 in arts and 18 in science.
Accordingly, the written test for the re -cruitment was held on August 14 wherein 31 candidates from Jiribam appeared it, he said and urged government to give first preference to candidates of Jiribam in filling up vacant posts in respect of the district.
According to Bilakshya, graduate teachers to be recruited would get only Rs 13,600 as monthly salary and this salary would not only be difficult for teachers from Imphal to teach students in schools of Jiribam but would compound the problem of shortage of teachers in the district as teachers from other districts, Imphal in particular, have a record of staying away from the place of posting.
The press conference was also attended by AMSU Jiribam unit vice president Poresh Urikhinbam, MSF Jiribam unit finance secretary M Sanjoy Singh and KSA Jiribam unit secretary in-charge Ch Achou Singh.
