Federal Students' Organisation Kangleipak (FESOK) has pointed out that government schools namely Lairikyengbam High School, Thamchet High School and Chingmeirong Upper Primary School are filled with inadequacies and lack proper toilet and furniture.
In a statement, FESOK informed that a team of the organisation surveyed the said schools during which it came to light that Lairikyengbam High School does not have proper toilet and class rooms of primary level are not properly constructed.
In addition to this, maintenance of the school has not been done for the last two years, the release continued.
Besides lacking proper classrooms, furniture, water tank and mid-day meal hall for Thamchet High School, Nongmeibung, there are reports of theft cases due to absence of fencing around the school campus.
Syringes used by drug addicts were also found inside the campus, the release said, adding that the school is facing problem of overwhelming number of teachers due to migration/utilization from other schools.
There are also numerous such schools which face the same problem, the release pointed out, while urging authorities concerned to find out such schools and send the teachers to schools which lack teachers.
Stating that FESOK conducted the survey with an objective to bring progressive change in education system, it appealed to authorities concerned to look into those schools that lack proper classroom, toilet and furniture.
FESOK, meanwhile, lauded education minister and officials of Education (S) for sending two teachers at Khoidum Upper Primary School, Sekmaijin.
