Kangpokpi, August 06 2021:
Kuki Students' Organization (KSO), Sadar Hills has strongly reacted to the rebuttal of People's Alliance for Peace and Progress (PAPP), Manipur over the statement issued by KSO-GHQ on certain points.
KSO Sadar Hills stated that the student body considers the rebuttal of PAPP Manipur over its statement as absurd and mockery as it has no logic and is wildly unreasonable.
It stated that the KSO-GHQ had condemned how chief minister N Biren acted differently upon one community to another within the state and PAPP, much to the dismay of the people, in its rebuttal portrayed the chief minister as a CM for a certain community only.
It asked PAPP if chief minister Biren is for the state then why he is backed solely by the organisation (PAPP) .
The students' body also queried whether the hill area is really in another part of the state, and "if it is so then respect the Hill areas laws and do not interfere in the hill's matter" .
With reference to PAPP's reaction, KSO pointed out that Haraothel village was not established in 1992, adding that "if you really are not aware of it then you better pay a visit to the village and see the document yourself and let your evil thoughts disturbing peace among the different communities rest in peace".
KSO (SH) continued, "Koupulu/Simtongbung is a place where our forefathers lived and prayed to our Almighty God since time immemorial and it was a place full of natural beauty some decades ago but then our brothers from the valley came for pilgrimage for 20 years leaving the nature destroyed but now blaming the indigenous settlers for cutting down trees and causing a mudslide by the so-called people's CM in the outer surface and valley CM in the interior part is unbearable by the rightful owners and we are not like some other communities who claim all lands".
It then said that PAPP Manipur's rebuttal of an established historical fact by denying 700 square miles as the original size of Manipur under its merger with the Indian Union is baseless while adding that PAPP Manipur can further establish the fact from the history of the seven principalities and stop denying their own written historical records.
If the Kukis are refugees then Meeteis too are refugees who migrated from China as migration is an integral human nature across all races", it added.
The KSO appealed to recognized civil society organizations like UCM, AMUCO, etc., to look after such an alleged unknown and self-styled organisation to avoid disruption of harmony in the state which otherwise can lead to a communal flare-up over silly matters among the diverse communities.
KSO Sadar Hills also urged the chief minister to relook at how he is dealing with the hill people and the Kuki community in particular for the last four and half years under his leadership and ponder over whether things are functioning smoothly while handling his people.
It further stated that KSO Sadar Hills has been closely monitoring and watching the steps taken up by some organisations for the past 2 years and "we, unfortunately, witnessed such organisations are more excessive in distorting the history of the Kukis for which we are compelled to come up with the statement".
