MPCC general secretary Hareshwar Goswami said today that appropriate legal action will be taken up against the writer of an article which levelled baseless allegations against the Congress party.
Elaborating, the MPCC general secretary said that the article had alleged that a huge amount of money was paid to lure an MLA to the Congress before the Assembly election of 2017.This is baseless, he said and added that Congress has never used money to lure any MLA and added that when he (Goswami) left BJP, it was because of ideological differences he had with the party and no because of money.
Hareshwar Goswami further claimed that Govindas Konthoujam joining BJP has no impact on the Congress.
The Congress party is a deep rooted party that has been made strong from the grassroot level and his going away will not affect the party in any away, he added.
On recent speculations that Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan and Saikul AC MLA Yamthong Haokip may leave the party, Hareshwar Goswami said the two MLAs are still very much with the Congress.
All the MLAs, ex-MLAs and intending candidates have pledged to contest the coming election together and make Congress party stronger in the State during a meeting yesterday, Hareshwar Goswami added.
He further told the media that the recent visit of Bhakta Charan Das, AICC incharge Manipur, was to discuss the strategy for the upcoming election, the pandemic in the State and the issue of 12 Parliamentary Secretaries.
