Hiroshima Day observed fittingly

Saheed Madhumangol Foundation and Indo-Japan Foundation, on Friday, observed the 76th Hiroshima Day at Maibam Lotpaching Kabui Khun to remember the world's first atom bomb attack at Hiroshima, Japan on this day in 1945 .
During the observance, the gathering offered tributes to soldiers of both INA and Japan who died at World War-II.
Speaking as the chief guest of the event, general secretary (organisation) BJP Manipur Pradesh Abhay Kumar Giri said that the idea of observing the day is to promote peace.
He also said that Manipur was first among the States of India that got independence from British India, Co-founder of Second World War Imphal Campaign Foundation, Arambam Angamba Singh recalled that two atomic bombs 'Little Boy' and 'Fat Man' developed by USA under Manhattan Project dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9, 1945 respectively, killed lakhs of Japanese.
Member of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Birth Anniversary Commemoration Committee, S Premananda Sharma, on the other hand, said that Red Hill at Nambol Maibam is one of the most historic places where Battle of Imphal was fought.
Around 30,000 Japanese died in the Battle of Imphal, he said and added that he will consult with the Government to establish a memorial at Maibamlotpa Kabui Khun where Japanese can pay respect to their ancestors who died at Battle of Imphal.
Chief of Maibamlotpa Kabui Khun, Maipak confirmed that the village will extend all possible help in establishing any Japanese memorial in their area.
