IGAR (S) apprehends UGs, seizes Burmese tobacco

Imphal, November 05 2014:
Troops of 16 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector AR under HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation in the general area village Bongbal Gamnoum and apprehended two KNF (N) cadres on November 4, claimed a release of PRO, IGAR (South) today.
The arrested persons were identified as SS Pvt Mangcha Kipgen, aged 19 Yrs, S/o Late Thangsai Kipgen, resident of Bungbal in Churachandpur and Mangpuhao alias Haopu (Pvt), aged 21 Yrs, S/o Mr Lunkhularr Heopu, resident of Bungbal Khullenin Thoubal.
One 9mm Pistol with magazine and nine live rounds were recovered from their possession.
The cadres along with recovered items have been handed over to the Yairipok Police Station.
In another operation, troops of the 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation in Langthabal and apprehended one NSCN (K) cadre on November 4.The apprehendee identified as A Veini Johnson, aged 34 yrs, S/o A Akha, resident of Karong Kathiko in Senapati revealed that he is a regional cabinet Minister's secretary of political wing of NSCN (K).
Blank letter head of NSCN (K), two mobile phones, four SIM cards, one driving license, one voter card and cash rupees 4650/- were recovered from his possession, added the release.
Based on information revealed by him, a follow up operation was launched by the Singjamei Police and recovered one .22 Pistol along with magazine and four live rounds.
The apprehendee alongwith the recovered items have been handed over to the Singjamei PS.
Meanwhile, troops of the 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under HQ IGAR (South) apprehended an individual along with illegal goods at Khudengthabi check post on November 4.The suspicious vehicle, a truck Registration Number MN 01 8663, traveling from Moreh to Imphal was stopped for checking and on a thorough search led to recovery of ten tones of Burmese tobacco leaves, estimated cost rupees twenty lacs, one mobile phone and a driving license.
The apprehendee was identified as Mr Th.James Lamkang, aged 27 yrs, S/o Mr Th Thamdom Lamkang, resident of Lamkang Khunyai of Pallel in Chandel district.
The apprehendee alongwith the recovered items has been handed over to the NCB Imphal.
