Imphal, July 22 2013:
Taking serious note over steep rise in the prices of essential commodities in the State following NH-39 blockage due to landslide in Nagaland, Angahal Soiraisam, volunteers of ACOAM-Lup, Kangleipak have started patrolling the city to check the prices.
Announcing this in a statement, Working President of ACOAM-LUP, Kangleipak (Manipur) Angahal Soraisam has cautioned all traders, dealers and agents against selling essential commodities at increased rate.
Angahal observed that minutes after the news of the landslide spread, wholesale dealers and rich traders have suddenly increased the rate of all goods including essential commodities.
Along with closing of all oil pumps, the owners and their agents as well as dealers started supplying fuel in black market causing unnecessary trouble to the people.
So, action would be taken up against anyone who is found selling essential commodities above the market rate during the course of the drive, Angahal made it clear.
While appealing to the concerned authority and Minister to have a close look at the present situation and control the price of goods in the market, ACOAM-LUP also demanded to fully develop Imphal-Jiri National highway stretch so as to do away with such problems for once and for all.
