Manipur BJP to kickoff membership drive on November 9

Imphal, November 04 2014: BJP Manipur Pradesh will be oraganising a state level workshop on membership year 2015 and will also be formally starting membership mission on November 9 at 10 am at BJP head office, Nityaipat Chuthek in Imphal in the presence of a Union minister of BJP along with a National office bearer of the party.

"As all of us are aware that BJP is celebrating '2015' as a membership year for the party.

The event was formally launched by BJP National BJP Amit Shah at a press conference in New Delhi on October 28 this year," said state BJP unit president M Aswinikumar on Tuesday.

As part of this programme Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party President Amit Shah launched a mobile/online membership mission in the national capital on November 1, 2014, he said.

The new membership done from November 1, 2014 to March 31, 2015 will be for the period 2015-2020, Aswinikumar informed.

He said all the state BJP units to start the mission from November 2 to 7 in the presence of the Central leaders at every state BJP head office, adding this was finalised with the consent of Ramlal, National BJP General Secretary (Organisation) and Jagat Prakash Nadda, National BJP General Secretary (H/Q) during the party's meeting of Eastern and North Eastern regions held on October 31, 2014 at Kolkata.

In general election 2014, people of India had shown faith in BJP with around 17.16 crore (31.3 percent) people voting for the party, he noted, adding this was a proud moment for BJP.

"Now our aim is to transform these votes and this popular mandate into support for the party," Aswinikumar maintained.

He said the party seeks to increase its member by 20 percent during the drive, which is launched every six years and expressed confidence that this time the drive will work to break all previous records.

The party presently has 3.25 crore members though not all of them are active workers, the BJP leader said and continued that enthused by the "connect" of its catchy slogans with masses during the recent Lok Sabha election, BJP has come out with new ones for the membership drive which include 'sashakt bhajpa' sashakt Bharat (strong BJP, strong India) and 'saath aayein, desh banayein (come together, build the country) .

BJP Manipur state appeals to all the state executive members/Morcha presidents/Cell convenors/district convenors and general secretaries/Mandal presidents to come and join the state level workshop-cum-membership mission to be held on November 9, he added.
