One more succumbs in Kpi, mass vaccination conducted

Kangpokpi, June 28 2021:
Covid fatality count in Kangpokpi district continues to escalate as the toll reached 38 on Monday following the death of another patient in the last 24 hours.
Saneiring (60), wife of (L) Saiphu Chonsochung of Laikot Phaijol village under Lhungtin sub-division succumbed to Covid-19 on Monday 2:32 am at Babina Speciality Hospital, Imphal East.
The deceased was admitted to American Oncology Institute, Babina Speciality Hospital Covid ICU on June 27 and passed away due to acute respiratory distress syndrome with post-Covid lung fibrosis.
With no objection from Laikot Phaijol Village Authority for the burial, the body was laid to rest at the village cemetery following strict Covid protocols as instructed by the district magistrate/DC Kangpokpi.
On the other hand, despite discharge of 26 Covid patients under home isolation after recovery, 32 new active cases have been detected in the last 24 hours, thus raising the number of active cases in the district to 145.Meanwhile, a mass vaccination drive was conducted on Monday at Manedara (9th mile) in Twilang area under Kangpokpi assembly constituency in collaboration with PHC T Waichong, 44 Assam Rifles and Covid Task Force Irang Area under the initiative of MLA Nemcha Kipgen.
The 44 AR of 22 Sector/IGAR (E) will also conduct another vaccination cum free medical at Paudel Basti of Irang Part-1 on July 1 .
According to PIB (Defence) Imphal, mobile hospital facilities are being set up with community based approach and vaccination sessions would be conducted nearer to homes.
It also informed that Tamenglong Battalion have successfully administrated 1293 first dose to the civilian beneficiaries and it is targeting to administer 10,000 vaccines in the days to come with the support of state health department and MLA of the area.
The medical team of Tamenglong Battalion along with PHC, T Waichong staff administered first jab to 151 beneficiaries.
The team also reached out to the elderly people of the area, the PIB informed.
On the other hand, 44 AR displayed various banners and posters on COVID-19 and carried out sanitisation of the village.
The unit medical team also organised a free medical camp on the sidelines of vaccination.
Around 151 people including 119 of 18 years and above and 32 individuals of 45 years and above were vaccinated during the mass vaccination drive.
The vaccination drive was also participated by BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary Premananda Meitei, BJP Kangpokpi Mandal president Tingnei Lhouvum, former ADC Sadar Hills members BP Vikas Basnet and Sagar Gewali, and GB Irang Part-I, HP Nepal apart from various other line department officials.
Meanwhile, as directed by the district magistrate/DC Kangpokpi, preparations have been made for assembly constituency-wise clusters for vaccination on Monday while the medical department has scheduled an advocacy programme on daily basis within the district.
