Police intensify drive against liquor across state

Imphal, June 28 2021:
A team of Imphal West district police commando conducted drive against sale of liquor at the shops located on the western side of Pologround here and seized illicit liquor on Monday.
During the drive conducted around 4.30 pm, the police team seized 48 bottles of McDowell's (180 ml), 3 bottles of Royal Stag (180 ml) and one Kingfisher beer (650ml) from a shop run by one Modun Maring (22) son of Korung Maring of Pallel Worshok village but presently staying in Pologround area.
Meanwhile, under the supervision of Additional SP (ops) Amarjit Lamabam, a team of Imphal West District Commando led by inspector P Achouba arrested two people with DIC liquor while conducting frisking and checking at Sagoltongba.
The arrested duo has been identified as Sagolsem Premjit Singh (25) son of S Tampha Singh of Langathel Mamang Leikai and Sukham Jems Singh (19) son of S Chaothoi Singh of Sagoltongba Awang Leikai.
The liquor consignment was found during checking a Tata truck (AS 01CC 2529).In all, 323 bottles of one litre and 194 bottles of half litre local liquor were seized from the duo.
Imphal West district commando led by SI Amarjit also seized 10 bottles of one litre and 44 bottles of half litre local liquor from a shop owned by one Laiphrakpam Inao Singh (32) son of late Achoubi Singh of Kakwa Huidrom Leikai.
Under the supervision of Kakching SP Victoria Yengkhom, Sugnu police team conducted drive against liquor in Sugnu area and raided liquor manufacturing units.
Several items used in manufacturing DIC liquors were seized during the drive.
The police team also arrested a man driving foreign made Kenbo bike without registration number along with six cans of Diablo beer while conducting checking at Serou/Chakpikarong road.
The arrested person has been identified as Hemgoulen Haokip (25) son of Tongkholen Haokip of Molcham village, Chandel.
