Senapati, June 28 2021:
Contractors tasked for construction of Model Residential School at Taphou Naga village have rejected the allegations by the so-called Consumers Club president D Maryna.
In a press statement, the contractors contended that D Maryna is a self-appointed president and Senapati District Consumers' Club is a one-man club without any office, files and records.
Reacting to posts uploaded on some social media, the contractors said a consumers' club is supposed to function under specific bye laws, articles of the association with definite tenures and financial accounts to be checked annually by authorised body but the club lacks such functionality to date.
Its main activities should be to look after and control prices of essential commodities and redress grievances of the general public, the contractors stated.
The construction works going on at the Model Residential School are being undertaken under the strict supervision of MOBC and as per the specification in the blue print of the project, they contended.
Mention may be made here that Senapati District Consumers' Club (SDCC) led by its president D Maryna had conducted a surprise checking at the construction site on June 18, following which the SDCC president drew the attention of the authority concerned over alleged the sub-standard materials used in the construction.
In this regard, state government officials representing engineers from MOBC reportedly carried out an inspection, checking the progress of work, quality of construction materials and had interaction with the contractors.
The engineers were rather satisfied with the ongoing work progress.
Earlier, Senapati District Contractors' Association (SDCA) had also reportedly visited and inspected the work site on June 24.During the visit, the RCC slabs used were reportedly found to be as per specification of the government, the beams are as per measurement size, mazari (stone chips) was reportedly used for flooring and not in slab and beams with 14/16 and 16/18 stone size were used in the construction.
Some special sand from Dimapur with some local sand from Koubru Leikha, which is government approved sand for construction, are reportedly used in the ongoing construction.
Briefing media persons, Marahang Ngiimai, former village secretary of Taphou Naga village, stated that he is sad to learn about wrong information being circulated on social media about the ongoing construction works on Model Residential School.
The secretary further said that he himself had inspected the ongoing construction which was satisfactory.
Reports of sub-standard materials used in the construction were incorrect as per his personal survey.
The news on some social media about the residential school was done so with a motive to confuse the people and the district administration in general, he said.
The MOBC team together with some personalities reportedly inspected the construction site for checking the construction work and found it satisfactory.
