Progress of RIMS spelt out

Asserting that the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences has made rapid progress in the last few years, a source close to the institute today said that the fact that it has been placed at 38th position out of over 540 medical institutes across the country should underline this point.
RIMS was placed at the 38th spot in the assessment conducted by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2020 .
Stating that RIMS has seen progress under Director Professor A Santa, the source said that the hierarchy of the institute has been streamlined to make it more effective and it is along this line that other than the Superintendent the hospital today has a Consultant, two Deputy Medical Superintendents, an Assistant Medical Superintendent and a well oiled Engineering Cell.
With everyone chipping in their best, steps are on to take RIMS to the level of AIIMS, claimed the source and added that many development activities have been initiated.
Installation of the 3T MRI machine from Germany has been finalised at RIMS, said the source and added that the old ICU has been expanded and an additional ten beds have been put in place.
Moreover two OT blocks including one for Gynaecology have been constructed and put into operation, added the source.
Echocardiography facility is now working at RIMS and construction of a new Dialysis treatment centre with facility for 11 beds has been finalised.
An oxygen generating plant has started functioning.
The new deluxe ward has been turned into a premier ward.
A new RNTCP has also started treating patients.
Utility complex, two public washrooms, hospital parking lot have all come up conveniencing the patients and family members, added the source.
Taking note of the developmental works taken up at RIMS, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had also assured to extend whatever assistance is needed to help take the hospital to the level of AIIMS, claimed the source further.
