Kakching, May 21 2022:
Sugnu MLA Kangujam Ranjit on Saturday inaugurated the Wangoo Pachi Eco Tourism Park set up at the historically important Wangoo Pachi (Paji) Leihao Houba Hill, which already houses Wangoo Paji and Tampha Lairembi shrine.
The inauguration programme organised by Wangoo Pachi Eco Tourism Park Construction and Management Committee was attended by MLA Ranjit as chief guest and Wangoo Development Committee president L Khelchandra as president, while Kakching Zilla Parishad 6-Wangoo ZP Constituency member Moirangthem (o) Melody Leima, Wangoo Gram Panchayat under Langmeidong CD Block pradhan Loitongbam Sharat, Wangoo GP under Moirang CD Block pradhan Amom (o) Bina, Tourism Department assistant director W Romen, DRDA Thoubal executive engineer Ngangbam Somarendro and assistant engineer Lukram Azad Singh were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA K Ranjit informed that the Eco Tourism Park was constructed at the cost of Rs 50 lakh including Rs 30 lakh from Tourism Department and Rs 20 lakh from his MLA Local Area Development Fund.
The park has been developed at the religiously important site of Wangoo Baji to show respect to our ancestors.
In 2014, a traditional Meitei 'Yumjao Ka Mapal' (traditional house with nine rooms) was constructed at the same site at the cost of Rs 7 lakh to showcase to the future generation traditional 'Yumjao', but the present derelict state of the house is very disappointing, he noted.
While seeking support of the local for better maintenance of newly inaugurated Wangoo Pachi Eco Tourism Park, he also assured to approach the Tourism Department to release additional funds along with extending all possible assistance from his side to make the park more attractive.
MLA Ranjit also announced that after the end of Monsoon season, black topping of inter-district road from Wangoo Lamkhai to Wangoo Thong (bridge) will be taken up under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund.
Proposal has also been sent to works minister Govindas Konthoujam for repairing of the state highway from Wabagai Lamkhai to Sugnu along with upgrade of Wangoo Bailey bridge and the bailey bridge constructed over Manipur river between Sugnu to Churachandpur road to RCC bridges, he added.
The MLA also described as fortunate that chief minister N Biren has fulfilled his promise made before the assembly election to repair the road from Wabagai Lamkhai to Sugnu and Chakpikarong to New Samtal through mending of potholes.
However, quality of work is poor, he claimed and appealed to the authority concerned to look into the matter.
The MLA also affirmed that though he is in opposition he will do all his best for the development of the Sugnu assembly constituency as well as sincerely perform the duty of opposition to expose government's lapses, if any.
