Minister Awangbow oversees Covid situation in Tamenglong
District headquarter town declared containment zone till May 19

Tamenglong, May 13 2021:
In view of the increase in the number of Covid-19 positive cases in Tamenglong district, Forest and Environment minister Awangbow Newmai took stock of the situation with the District Task Force (DTF) committee through video conferencing on Thursday.
During the interaction, DC Armstrong Pame, who is also the chairman of the DTF committee, briefed the minister about the various measures taken up to contain this pandemic and also made aware of the number of positive persons detected from the market area and district headquarters with no travel history.
Accordingly, it was decided to declare containment zone of the town area from ward no 1 to ward no 5 of Tamenglong district headquarters more particularly from Forest Gate to till District Council Junction including ADC colony.
The declaration of containment zone was taken in due consideration of the difficulty in carrying out contact tracing of all positive persons as it includes some of the most crowded areas.
As per the decision taken in the DTF meeting, the geographical area of the containment zone will be sealed, entry and exit will be restricted and any form of public gathering will be banned within the containment zone till May 19.DTF chairman also informed that in order to fully vaccinate the population of Tamenglong headquarters and adjoining pockets, a bus has been provided every day at Lower Ground for commute till the district hospital at 9 am.
The video conferencing meeting was attended by SP and SDPO Tamenglong, ADM, SDO of Tamei, Tousem and Tamenglong, Chief Medical Officer Tamenglong and CEO, ADC Tamenglong and various government departments which is part of the District Task Force Committee.
