Imphal, May 13 2021:
The outlawed Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) on Thursday expressed displeasure over the press statement issued by Raitu-Kamson group in connection with the killing of one Radamchui Kamei.
In a press release, ZUF stated that it is displeased with the statement issued by Hozam Thaimei alias Thandumlung alias Adum of Chaiba (Chalungkhou) village, a self-styled MIP of Raitu-Kamson gang on May 11, 2020 in connection with the brutal killing of Lt Radamchui Kamei, s/o Lunglin Kamei of Khumji II village, Noney district, and termed the killing as an outright violation of human rights and barbaric nature condemnable by all right-thinking citizens.
The Front further said that the Raitu-Kamson group had merged with NSCN-U on October 26, 2019 but the group still operates under ZUF's name to harass, extort and amass wealth to satisfy its greed and interest.
The Raitu-Kamson group showed its true colours in the recent killing of its own cadre Lt Radamchui Kamei.
The cold-blooded killing of an innocent cadre and alleging him of attempting to desert the camp is baseless and a made-up story to cover up its crime, ZUF said.
ZUF then clarified that the Front is not involved in the killing and informed the general public not to be misled by "the ugly incident", adding that ZUF is hurt by the fact that the dissident Raitu-Kamson gang has long been harassing and threatening the general public in Zeliangrong inhabited area.
"We have lost our patience over their activities, alleging and blaming individuals and general public even to the extent of taking lives to meet their greed-based interest.
We shall resort to cleansing such criminal activities in all Zeliangrong inhabited areas in the interest of the people," the Front warned, while calling for public cooperation in "our endeavour to get rid of all anti-social elements in the society".
ZUF also accused the Raitu-Kamson led NSCN-U of causing trouble for people in Zeliangrong area during these difficult times amid the COVID-19 pandemic and termed it as inhumane.
It then cautioned that no individual and organisation should give shelter or extend any kind of help and support to such anti-social activists in the Zeliangrong area, while conveying condolences to the family of Radamchui Kamei.
