Nemcha forms committees to curb pandemic

With the second wave of COVID-19 sweeping across the state, Kangpokpi AC MLA Nemcha Kipgen has come up with strategies to control the COVD-19 in her constituency.
The MLA on Thursday constituted seven COVID task forces area-wise under her assembly constituency, namely Kangpokpi, Keithelmanbi, Tujang, Kalapahar, Yaikongpao/ Tumnoupokpi, IT Road Irang and Parsian, to coordinate with the district administration, medical department, police and other frontline workers in enforcing COVID advisories, SOPs and guidelines.
Nemcha Kipgen, whose top priority is safety and protection of the frontline workers, provided a large quantity of protective gears including PPEs, masks, sanitizers and gloves to the medical superintendent of District Hospital, Kang-pokpi, medical officer of Kalapahar PHC and all the seven area-wise COVID Task Forces.
She then made SDO of Kangpokpi, Shyam Kumar in-charge of the seven COVID task forces under Kangpokpi AC and directed him to arrange an ambulance within few days to be utilised in the fight against the second wave in her constituency.
Nemcha urged the COVID task forces to work sincerely and be dedicated to all people irrespective of caste, creed and religion and to prevent further deaths in the constituency.
She also asked the task forces to help enforce strictly the SOPs, adding that adhering to SOPs is the only effective means to prevent COVID infection and fatality.
The local MLA then appealed to people of Kangpokpi AC to call the phone numbers of their respective areas in case of any COVID-19 related emergency.

Meanwhile, Nemcha inaugurated a 50-bed-ded Community Home Isolation Centre at BJP office, Kangpokpi on Thursday.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Kangpokpi DC Somorjit Salam, CMO Kangpokpi Dr J Touthang, Addl SP (Ops) Kangpokpi Lalminlen Misao, medical superintendent District Hospital Kangpokpi Dr Paotinlal Haokip, medical officer Kalapahar PHC Dr Nengpilhing, KTC chairman Lunseh Kipgen, members of KWWO and KYU and personnel of fire service.
The MLA also provided sodium hypochlorite to the fire service department for sanitization as and when required.
She also extended financial assistance to all the seven COVID task forces for fuel and other needs while monitoring and ensuring SOPs and guidelines in their respective areas, and appealed to the people of Kangpokpi AC to extent maximum cooperation to the task forces, district administration, medical department, police and other frontline workers.
Somorjit Salam conveyed gratitude to the local MLA for her proactive role in combating the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic and the BJP for providing their office building for setting up community home isolation centre in respect of Kangpokpi AC .
