WMC submits memorandum to Assam CM

Expressing the need for an investigation in the unfortunate incident that occurred on May 9, 2021, in which a women was gang raped by 3 persons at Modhutila village near Silchar NIT in Cachar district of Assam, the World Meetei Convention (WMC) submitted a memorandum to the Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma yesterday.
According to a video released by WMC general secretary, Yambem Arun Meetei, the tragic incident took place on May 9 at around 4.30 pm in Modhutila under Gangoor Police station.
Yambem Arun appealed to the Assam Government to initiate an free and fair investigation without any political interference into the matter at the earliest.
He added that the meetei community settled in Assam were hopeful that every community would receive a fair and equal treatment under the able leadership of the CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Besides, a copy of the memorandum was also submitted to Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh.
