Covid claims 10 more, 560 test positive

As witnessed across the country, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to take a heavy toll in the State with 10 people succumbing to the virus and 560 tested positive during the last 24 hours.
A press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang informed that 10 persons aged 56 (male, Imphal East), 65 (male, Imphal West), 52 (male, Imphal West), 58 (female, Imphal East), 62 (male, Ukhrul), 62 (female, Imphal West), 41 (male, Imphal East), 68 (male, Imphal East), 57 (male, Imphal East) and 64 (male, Senapati) expired at Raj Medicity, Shija Hospital, Ukhrul district hospital, RIMS and JNIMS.
In the meantime, 555 civilians and five personnel of CAPF have been found infected by the contagion at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Maipakpi Hospital, Mother's Care Hospital, IRL, Swiss Clinic, Gilead Health Care Centre, Little Clinic, RD Wing, Ema Hospital, Advance Hospital, Asian Hospital, Iboyaima Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Shija Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Escent Diagnostics, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Chandel, Senapati, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi, Kamjong, Noney, Jiribam and Ukhrul.
The civilians who have been tested positive belong to Imphal West (262), Imphal East (120), Thoubal (21), Bishnupur (45), Kakching (17), Ukhrul (9), Churachandpur (45), Chandel (9), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (5), Kangpokpi (12), Kamjong (3), Tengnoupal (4) and Jiribam (1) .
Following recovery, 253 COVID-19 positive people have been discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (199), CAPF (6), RIMS (9), RD Wing (6), CCC Bishnupur (5), CCC Kakching (3), CCC Jiribam (1), CCC Ukhrul (8), CCC NSU (5) and CCC Churachandpur (11) .
While the death toll has surged to 536, the recovery rate has declined to 83.76 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1068 D type oxygen cylinders and 407 B type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of the State.
One air passenger was tested positive on arrival at Imphal airport out of 31 air passengers tested today.
The cumulative number of passengers tested at Imphal airport is 4740 and it includes 109 positive cases.
Air passengers who came to the State on May 12 by Air India flight AI-713 in rows 17-23, May 10 by Air India flight AI-713 in rows 10-16, May 3 by Indigo 6E-6034 in rows 24-30 and 6E-2615 in rows 26-31 have been informed to report to the COVID-19 Common Control Room on 1800-345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officers for further surveillance and necessary testing.
