Imphal, May 12 2021:
In view of the rising Covid-19 cases in and around Thangmeiband area, Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) has urged the government for setting up a Covid Care Centre (CCC) for Thangmeiband AC as Covid patients in the area face lot of inconveniences while trying to admit in hospitals.
Speaking to media persons at Ima Khunthokhanbi Shanglen on Wednesday, TUC president Pratap Leishangthem informed that previously serious Covid-19 patients under the jurisdiction of Thangmeiband were admitted to hospital and get treated by communicating local MLA, medical officers, doctors and local club.
Unfortunately, medical officers are no more accessible through phone for admitting Covid-19 serious patients at hospital.
Moreover, the doctors that previously helped them also could not be contacted.
This has led to a serious situation where Covid patient might die due failure to avail timely treatment, he contended.
Urging the government to set up CCC in Thangmeiband at the earliest, Pratap assured that TUC will provide all necessary help if the CCC is established.
If the government could not set up a CCC then it should arrange a responsible person to communicate with the club so that Covid patients could be admitted to hospital, he demanded.
There is an apprehension that family members will get infected if Covid positive patients continue to be put in home isolation.
So, the government should look into the matter seriously, he maintained, while reiterating for setting up CCC not only in Thangmeiband but also in different areas of the state.
