FREINDS condemns Nekhohat killing

Expressing serious concern over rising crimes against Manipuri women married to non-Manipuris, Federation of Regional Indigenous Society (FREINDS) has strongly condemned the merciless killing of Nekhohat Kilong, w/o Vijay (a Non Manipuri BRTF worker) who was found murdered at Monumphai area near Kondong Lairembi, Moreh on Tuesday.
Apart from the murder case of Nekhohat Kilong, many incidents of Manipuri women tortured/murder/rape including attempt to murder of Sashima Keishing by her non-Manipuri husband on 27th February; raped case of a minor class VIII girl student by a teacher from Haryana in his room on 27th March; attempt to sodomize by a street jewelry seller from West Bengal on 9th January and other cases of torture, illegal divorces were surfaced in recent past.
With the increased number of Manipuri women married or having illicit relation with outsiders, Manipuris are slow but rapidly becoming a hybrid national, W Shanta Metei, Secretary Publicity of FREINDS said in a statement.
With fingers are pointing to Vijay over the murder of his Nekhohat Kilong, the Federation has demanded the police to arrest the husband for necessary interrogation as soon as possible.
