Three die in mishap; auto driver shot at

A truck carrying logs met a tragic mishap last night near Seitol (Saiton) village in Churachandpur district killing three at the spot and left at least three
others injured.
The shaktiman truck, according to sources, was fully loaded with wooden logs with 10 men on board.
As it negotiated through a muddy road in between Changpikot and Seitol villages at about 8pm, it skidded off the road.
Three of the occupants, including the truck owner identified as Doumang and his son Lalminlen reportedly died at the spot as the heavy logs fell on them.
Their bodies were retrieved using a crane.
The other victim was identified as Thangkhanlal.
All of them were residents of S Molhoi.
Three others who were injured and brought to the district hospital here were however discharged after receiving first-aid.
Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen last night shot a 25-year-old diesel auto driver identified as Liansonmuan of Gangpimual village at Zomi Colony along the Tedim Road.
He is said to have received a bullet wound on his right chest.
He was taken to Imphal for treatment as his condition is said to be critical.
Police have registered an FIR over the incident but were yet to round-up or name any suspect.
